Remember way back when (2 years ago) when track bike videos weren’t just kids riding slowly in circles in empty parking lots?

An obviously fake (and aspiring to be viral) video for Rock Racing (the equivalent of the tribal armband tattoo for competitive cycling) set to BLITZ - “Never Surrender”.

Wow.  Already off to a great start two days in.  Cancellara abandons, the main contenders slog through a horrific day and Mancebo (Rock Racing?!) rides almost the whole damn thing himself and still has the legs to outsprint the two who finally caught him for the win (and the yellow).

Oh and Astan gets four bikes stolen from their trailer, including Lance’s $10k TT bike, which is one of a kind and therefore completeley unpawnable.  Way to go geniuses.

UPDATE:

I wrote Cannondale an email suggesting that they may want to give this poor man a new bike and they called me back!  Now comes the logistical nightmare of trying to track this guy down.

Looks like NYC is finally getting a real answer to MASH.

I had read about this a few months ago and then immediately forgot about it until now.

The California Cycleway Company was incorporated on August 23, 1897, by the visionary Horace Dobbins, to develop a bicycle tollway from the Green Hotel in downtown Pasadena to downtown Los Angeles. Although everything pointed to a successful venture, Dobbins’ plans for an elevated wooden bike turnpike were rudely interrupted by the unexpected invention of the automobile. Constructed in an era known for thinking big, the Cycleway was nevertheless considered an engineering feat of the times. The Cycleway fell into disuse and the right-of-way subsequently became the Arroyo Seco/Pasadena Freeway, Dobbins became known as the father of the modern freeway, and the Cycleway was forgotten.

Riccardo Ricco, pictured above, a rider that I had been greatly enjoying so far in the Tour de France because of both his arrogance and extreme aggressiveness, tested positive for some new variant of EPO before todays stage and took the Saunier Duval team with him.

So fucking disappointing.  I guess now I root for Vandevelde, because I will at least know that Garmin-Chipotlle is clean.
